The top five nominations for the theALPS Award 2014 are on the shortlist

For the theALPS Award 2014, 30 projects on digital marketing strategies and campaigns along the Customer Journey were entered. Experts under the chairmanship of FH-Prof. Hubert Siller (MCI Tourismus Innsbruck) have decided on the shortlist after a jury sitting in Innsbruck: Rewild by GTA - Grande Traversée des Alpes (FR); Ferienshop (Holiday shop) Davos Klosters (CH); Hüttenbuchungstool (Hut-booking tool) for the Peter Habeler Runde – Tourismusverband Mayrhofen (AT); Vee24 – Live-Help-Vertriebstool (AT); The Experience Jukebox – Valsugana Tourism (IT).

Innovative digital marketing strategies in alpine tourism” is this year’s motto for the renowned competition. In fact, the best and most successful digital marketing strategies and campaigns along the Customer Journey for destinations, tourism businesses and marketing intermediaries in the alpine area will be recognised for the fourth theALPS Award.  On Tuesday 16th September, after the theALPS symposium in Arosa, in the Swiss Canton Graubünden, the prize-winner of this year’s competition will be announced.

The theALPS Award will be presented by AlpNet – the association for the support of alpine tourism under the scientific leadership of MCI Tourimus Innsbruck.  The aim is to provide a stage within the annual specialist event theALPS for the most outstanding achievements that have already been realised in tourist marketing in the alpine region.  “This year the entries again reflect the innovative spirit of the leading regions and companies in the Alps” emphasised the jury Chairman FH-Prof. Hubert Siller.

The jury had previously given the 30 entries an initial judgement. The expert jury, consisting of representatives from science and specialist fields, then analysed the eleven selected projects in detail.  The top five, which make up the shortlist of nominated finalists, will now be contacted by the jury in person.  The decision on the winner will be made at the final jury sitting in Arosa on 16th September, and will be announced on the same day at the theALPS Award prize-giving ceremony.

Background information on theALPS 2014

Its origin was the development of the specialist international tourist event theALPS in the Tyrol, at whose initiative - together with other leading alpine regions - theALPS Trading Room, theALPS Symposium and theALPS Award were held for the first time in 2011 in Innsbruck.

In 2012 the sponsoring organisation AlpNet was founded, to which the tourist regions of Bern-Berner Oberland, Graubünden, Luzern-Vierwaldstättersee, Rhône-Alpes, Südtirol, Tirol, Trentino and Valais currently belong.

In 2013 the AlpNet Partner ‘Rhône Alpes Tourisme’ took over the role of host, and then in 2014 the event moved for the first time to the Swiss Alps and was organised and held by Arosa Tourism, in close cooperation with Graubünden Tourism.
